Movement and Mindfulness

Digital Retreat

Starting December 6th, or check our November Amsterdam retreat

With 2020 coming to a close, winter coming and perhaps a different than usual holiday season in front of us, the proposal is to set some time aside to focus on ourselves in a chill atmosphere to learn about mindfulness, stress management techniques and how we can support our brains and ourselves.

We created this 3 weeks program to explore the science behind mindfulness stress reduction from an experiential approach, complemented with a bit of theory to introduce you to mindfulness or to deepen your meditation app practice.

Daily life stressors can be so constant that we don’t register them. They’re a part of the backdrop, woven seamlessly into our “normal”. Managing them during winter, when the weather is less collaborative with our outdoor activities can add an extra challenge. Over time, as they accumulate, these stressors can wear us down— leaving us feeling foggy, drained, tired, irritated, and even sore.

If you are a strong-willed and accomplished person, you may often give the impression that you are invulnerable to feeling inadequate or insecure or hurt. This can be very isolating, causing you to project this Rock of Gibraltar persona, and getting out of touch with your own needs.

If some of this rings true, then this digital retreat is for you.

How come it's digital?

How come it's digital?

With current covid safety measures and most retreats having been cancelled this year, we want to offer you the chance to join this experience from the safety of your own home.

Via mail you will receive some physical goods to

make the experience special at home:

  • Our STLN program workbook.

  • STLN tea blend to enjoy during sessions

  • Other materials needed for the practices

  • Healthy snacks

Delivery

You will need: to have a silent and quiet space where you can stay during our sessions, and maybe let your roommates know that you might need a transition period after sessions are finished before going back to a more noisy or hectic environment.

Dynamics

We will start every practice with a 45 minutes restorative stretching class suitable for everyone (beginners are super welcome!).

You will move slowly through a number of stretching postures and relaxation exercises that will allow you to unplug, de-stress and wind down as you reconnect with our body.

Followed by a tea break, and the mindfulness program of 2.5 hours that includes

  • Guided meditations;

  • Practical mindfulness daily life exercises;

  • Group space to explore your experiences with the meditations, and practical tips on how to tackle doubts or challenges;

  • Introduction to mindfulness theory;

What people say

Manager, IT services

It was nice to be able to share and learn from others with different experiences and practice levels, the energy of the group was really great and positive, and both the location and the snacks were great

Elena, Head Project Manager

I've joined Glenda & team for the Urban Retreat in September, and would highly recommend it to anyone who is stressed or on the edge of a burnout. The dedicated time to focus in a mindful way on your body and mind has been extremely beneficial, and helped me to recharge, prioritise better and improved my sleeping patterns. Glenda is not just a professional & passionate advocate for mindfulness, but is also a very caring teacher who is genuinely interested in making the journey the best it can be for everyone. Thanks, Glenda & STLN Team!

Mireia, Senior Engineer

Found it by chance and I had the luck to experience the urban retreat. A unique experience! Highly recommendable.

Content

At the end of the program you can expect to:

  • Reconnect with your body through restorative movement. This will help you have an easy transition to meditation.

  • Start meditating or deepen your meditation app practice: we will do longer meditations and present different techniques and alternatives.

  • Experience MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Relief). A scientifically proven way to control stress and improve the quality of your life.

  • Shed new light on your understanding of how stress works with the latest mindfulness research and evidence.

  • Be able to start identifying how that feels for you, how it is affecting your thoughts patterns and reactions, and discover that there is an alternative, a space of conscious choice.

  • Have practical support with the practical doubts and challenges that arise when we learn to meditate.
